Location sets the tone for an entire shoot — it can be as important as wardrobe or lighting. Here’s how to choose one that fits your vision.

Match location to mood. A quiet garden or forest suggests softness and intimacy; a city street or architectural backdrop suggests energy and modernity; the coast suggests openness and freedom. Think about the feeling you want before the specific spot.

Consider the light, not just the scenery. A beautiful location with harsh midday sun or heavy shade can be harder to shoot than a simpler spot with soft, even light. Time of day often matters more than the location itself.

Think about accessibility and comfort. Locations with easy parking, shade, and seating make for a more relaxed session — especially for families with young children or sessions that run over an hour.
